A Tropical Disturbance races north toward the coast bringing several inches of rain and flooding. The storm is not intensifying so there is no chance of it becoming a Tropical Depression. A Tropical Depression is when a low pressure system forms with thunderstorms that are located over warm waters and produce a circular wind flow with maximum wind speeds below 39 mph. This storm on the other hand is a Tropical Disturbance, which is an organized group of thunderstorms that form over warm waters. This storm has no low pressure core and doesn't rotate because of that. The main threats of this storm is heavy rain and flooding for areas like Houston, Galveston, Corpus Christi, etc.
LOCAL WEATHER:
As the Tropical Disturbance advances north, we could see some thunderstorms that sweep over us in the next 24 hours. The outer bands of rain of the storm will begin hitting us and some places around DFW could receive up to a couple inches of rain. Many of the storms for our area will begin hitting around 3:00 PM. Absolutely no storms will be severe. Could we see some gusty winds and heavy rain? Of course! But this is not a severe weather set up by any means for DFW.
