Tropical Depression Imelda Update

Sept 19, 2019

Good morning everyone! Weather Center has been tracking Tropical Depression Imelda very closely as it moves inland. Today we will talk about the specifics of Tropical Depression Imelda and what to expect from it.

A Flash flood watch is in effect right now for parts of south eastern to north eastern Texas. Many counties are and under a Flash flood Warning too. I predict that as Imelda moves very slowly north, more watches will be issued. Also, Tornadoes are a danger as well. There has already been one tornado on the ground reported near Baytown Texas. Many tornadoes are possible when it comes to a rotating mesocyclone like this one. Stay aware of the weather in your area and check WC for up to date and live updates on storms in the area through the FORUM, CURRENT WARNINGS, or a new BLOG post.

Tropical Depression Imelda has made a weird stall right now but it will soon grow in its diameter of rain and as some dry air moves out from parts of Texas, we could see Imelda start to make its way North. If the strong rotating rain band get in the front of the storm as it wraps around, we could see some more tornado development even more up north. But that's only if it is still a strong enough mesocyclone. Friday morning through the rest of the day is about the time North Texas could get some more action. (DFW, etc.)
