Father's Day Storms Update

Convective Outlook Radar Scope

June 16, 2019

I am updating Weather Center with a new post due to a change in weather. Through the night, DFW got hit by a wall of storms that blew through and lasted a few hours, dropping heavy rain and a lot of lightning. Because of this happening, it should have made the atmosphere more stable causing the CAPE to break and rule out other storms to form later that day. What happened was just that except the CAPE didn't break, but move down south. As you can see, the air mass of Warm air has also transferred down south causing that new color to form over Waco area, the Enhanced risk. Chances for Extreme winds and tornadoes have heightened for all around, including DFW, but the main Severe storms could be moving through the south, missing us. So does that mean we will get nothing? No! We will still be getting a wall of potential Severe storms around 6:00 or 7:00 PM. A chance of some scattered Severe storms before then early evening. The main risk is extreme winds. Stay tuned to Weather Center for updates and the Forum. Also, check out the WFAA Radar in Weather Center too under "Current Weather."
